SAP India Aiming for the 2nd Spot in Database Management
Bangalore: SAP India, the fastest growing subsidiary of SAP AG, the world's leading provider of business software solutions though new in the field of database management business is posing a threat to other organization and expects to become the second largest player in India. As of present, the company is the fourth largest player in database management business after Oracle, IBM and Microsoft.
Peter Gartenberg, SAP India Managing Director said “We acquired 20 new clients in the first quarter (ended march 31, 2012). From the growth trends that we are seeing, we expect to be No 2 in database business.”
“India is among top 4-5 markets where we have to win. The impact that India has on global market and technology, we cannot afford to lose. We started last year and today, we have 1 billion Euros in revenue (from HANA) and 3,000 customers evaluating HANA (SAP's data analysis solution) globally, 400 have purchased and around 100 have deployed it. I won't be surprise if we cross 2 billion Euros business by end of this financial year," informed SAP's Global Executive Vice President Steve Lucas.
By analyzing previous available data, SAP IT solutions can inform companies or retailers about customers shopping requirements and thus increasing the sale.
SAP in India will lead the IT resource management software with 47.2 % market share, 27% in IT business intelligence solutions and 36% in supply chain management. "India will be the first country where we will launch training programme and courses to work on HANA," Lucas said.
In India, SAP’s customer includes ITC, Essar, HDFC, Tata Motors, ONGC, MTS, Power Grid and Vodafone.
