Current Job description
I am working as General Manager –Plant Operations at Karakoram Motors (Pvt) Ltd. (formerly Naya Daur Motors) . This company is owned by M/s AW Brothers. The company is assembling a 800 cc Mini Truck, 50 and 70 cc Motor cycles and recently entered into a TCA with Chery Automobiles of China for the local assembly of Chery QQ cars in Pakistan. The company also bought the total assets of Dynasty Electric Cars from a Canadian firm. Reporting directly to Chief Executive, I am responsible for overall plant operations, including Production, , Supply Chain, Product Development, Quality Control and Maintenance . Responsibilities includes Identification of new viable project ,project evaluation and feasibility analysis, drafting, negotiation and finalization of project contract, product costing and approvals from competent authorities, Planning and implementation of Manufacturing processes of new and existing product operations ,Development of infra structure for smooth production flow, Also responsible for P&L accounts, KPI’s , Strategic Business Planning and decisions , Long and Short term Planning,, Marketing and Sales Planning and HR issues.
Ensuring Growth
To become a leader and to maintain this position, demands continuous education ,updating of knowledge and skill development, I daily spare some time to read books, bulletins, and news papers to keep myself update in all the important issues like Finance and Accounts, Marketing and sales, Administration, and HR, Government policies, recent developments in related products and PR with the competitive industries. To upgrade my educational qualification I took admission in the M.Engg program in Engineering Management in NED Engineering University where I studied industry related subjects like, Operations Research, Total Quality Management, Strategic Planning and decision, Agile and Lean Manufacturing, Automation and Control, Finance and Accounts, Project Planning, Project Evaluation and Feasibility Analysis, Organizational Behavior and Maintenance Management like courses, These all courses help me to manage and achieve my organizational targets and goals in a successful way. I also visited many countries and got training in Japan and Maruti India for some time.
Handling Grievances
Although there are set procedures to handle the grievance of staff , but I always prefer to handle and settle the issues at my level, normally the grievance are about the work load, supervisor behavior and leave issues , these issues are normally solved at my level by adjustment, by relocating or by discussing with the supervisors.
My advice
A good leader is a prime asset of any organization. He should be able to professionally sound in his field be able to demonstrate his skills by doing the process by his own hands .He should be able to understand the organization’s long and short terms plans, should understand financial , marketing, sales, logistics ,and administrative issues.. A good leader is required to continue update his education, skills and knowledge not only in his related profession but also in the above stated fields, He should also develop his subordinates and help them to update their field knowledge by imparting them training , nominating them for some certificate courses, delegating them some power to organize and manage their work, admire their success publically. They should also develop PR in every important sector .
Important career decisions
To take admission in Master programme after a gap of 28 years of graduation. It was very difficult but I managed it successfully. The other one was a job offer from General Motors in USA but I preferred to stay with my family.
Managing personal and professional life
Deciding what you want to become in future and then plan the route to achieve it is a tough job, when you make your route then you should know that what are the pre-requisites to be on the target in a short span of time. You can not reached to a top slot until and unless you did not masters your self in all the related areas, I can say that I have connected the right dots that’s why I am now at a good position and off course this is not the end.
Leadership qualities
Being a leader is really not an easy task, every leader have some followers and subordinates, all of them worked together for achieving the objectives of an organization. The leader is just like an elder brother to them all he ,plans, organize and control the various activities to achieve the goals in a planned way. He should be able to solve the difficulties and problems of their subordinates and should have courage to take responsibility of failures (if any). A good leader must possess a Good personality, have Patience and tolerance qualities, Be able to coach and guide his subordinates, Should posses excellent human, administrative, innovative and initiative qualities and be able to communicate at all level.

I started my career as a trainee engineer production in an automobile assembly plant. Mr Akbar Khan was my first boss who always stands with me during the difficult time , he taught me the skills of dealing with the labor, handling CBA , line balancing , developing process sequence and provided all necessary assistance when ever and even today required. Mr Abdul Majeed Sheikh is my alma meter he guided me in planning, project implementation, and project contracts, tendering, writing TOR , managing training and seminars, I am really impress with his way of working, managing difficult situations, imparting responsibilities to subordinates and drafting feasibility reports. Mr Waseem Haqqie Managing Director of my first company, he guided me to develop PR, understand Finance, evaluate feasibility reports, and negotiate with the foreign OEMs.
More about me
I belong to Farooqui family. Farooqui is a multilingual community spread across Turkey, Romania, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Sheikh Ibrahim Bin Adham, who was the great grandson of Umar ibn al Khattab, traveled up to Afghanistan in his quests. One of his great grandson, Farrukh Shah Kabuli, was the ruler of Kabul and Ghazni. Farrukh Shah's son died fighting Halaku Khan (the grandson of Genghis Khan). The family got uprooted and most of them moved to Punjab. There, one of the great grandson Baba Farid made a name as a Sufi Saint and also traveled to Delhi. One of his great grandson, Naseeruddin Chirag-e-Delhi, also made a name as Sufi Saint, When the Mughals moved South, some of Shaikh Naseeruddin's children moved to the state of Deccan where they got posts as QAZI .Refer
Family background
My father (Late) Prof. Moiz Farooqui was a leading professor of Sindh University , he was General Secretary and than Vice President of Students Union of Urdu College, he was an active member of 1953 students movement regarding the various anti government policies towards the students welfare. My mother Syeda Khawaja Beagum was Vice Principal of FG School of Hyderabad, I have two brothers and one sister,
My views on India Technical development
Asians are number One , our youth is capable of doing much better work than the EU countries, Talent hunt from the Universities and professional colleges is the demand of the day, every idea should be seriously entertain, every one should now where is the platform, where he should go to demonstrate his work, who will provide him necessary funds to develop his product, from where he can get the technical support , there should be close liaison between the Universities and Industries. We can do the miracles Science is invented by Asians not by the EU.
